The Annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale 2013. PART I. Consignements welcome until April 25
When Grev Wedels Plass Auksjoner established The Annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale in 2000, it was the only auction exclusively devoted to Edvard Munch’s works in the international art market . Our aim was, through this annual special Sale, to acquire a leading international position initially for sale of prints by Edvard Munch. The annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale has long held such a position. Already in 2005, an exquisite copy of “Madonna” was sold for NOK 5 million. It was at that time the highest price achieved in the international market for a graphic work by Edvard Munch. Later it has been a number of international auction records in several graphic techniques. Still is the world’s highest price for a graphic work by Edvard Munch achieved at The Annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale, in Oslo, when a rare copy of the combined print “Vampire” was sold for NOK 11,8 million in 2007.
Through a total of 12 annual Munch Sales we have built an unrivaled network of active collectors and buyers. With a large and important anniversary of Edvard Munch in 2013 it’s time for a further upgrade of The Annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale.
The Annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale 2013 is spread over two days:
Part I: Wednesday 5 June 2013.
The Great Anniversary Exhibition at the Munch Museum and in the National Museum in Oslo opens Sunday 2 June. Wednesday 5 June at 6 pm, we have the pleasure to invite to The Annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale 2013 Part I. The Sale will consist of several oil paintings, watercolors, drawings and selected graphic works. The Annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale 2013, will attract considerable international attention.
Part II: Thursday 12 December 2013.
The Annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale has been held in late autumn every year, in the end of November. This will also be the case in 2013 except that the auction will be held on the day of Edvard Munch’s birthday, December 12. This part of the Sale will consist of a wide range of original works and graphic works as we know it from earlier. The Annual Norwegian Edvard Munch Sale Part II will benefit from, and be a part of, the marketing of Part I. If you are considering sale of a work by Edvard Munch in 2013, we recommend you to contact GWPA as soon as possible. Call Hans Richard Elgheim, 920 42 306 or send an e-mail to: post@gwpa.no.
